We are pleased to announce the tryout for the 12U B Vipers for Spring/Summer 2020.  Eligible players must NOT be older than 12 years of age on 1 January 2020 in order to tryout for the team.

The tryout will be held at Curt Flood Field in Oakland on 9 February 2020 at 10 AM.  Please arrive early to warm up. The tryout will begin promptly at 10:00 AM and we will not be performing group warm up exercises. The field will be available for warm up activities at 9:00 AM.

Bats and helmets will be made available for anyone who needs them.  Please bring a glove and any other gear your player normally uses in softball games.  Catcher gear will be available. Water is available on site but it is wise to bring your own.

Please follow the link below to register for the tryout.  You will find a short questionnaire requesting information about your player and her availability for practices and tournaments.

Click here for a document describing the skills that will be performed at the tryout.  Please review this document prior to attending and feel free to refer any questions to Richard James (richard.james@redbootconstruction.com 510.866.7441).  Both the tryout score and prior performance will be used to evaluate the players. We make every effort to ensure a fair tryout environment and to consider each player on their merits as opposed to their familiarity.

Vipers is the travel softball program associated with the Piedmont Baseball and Softball Foundation and Oakland Girls Softball League.  This travel program is important to OGSL/PBSF and showcases the most skilled players within our age divisions.  Teams compete locally and regionally. As a competitive team, versus a recreational team, players will not receive equal playing time. The goal is to introduce competition while maintaining the fun and enjoyment that makes players stay with the game for life.  Players typically focus on one or two positions. We are proud to field competitive Bay Area teams and hope that your player will continue the traditions and success established by our current and former players.

Thanks for your interest in the Vipers and good luck at the tryout,

Coach Rich
